Capitol Hill Scheduling

With the extensive and detailed restoration project recently completed at the Utah State Capitol, there is no better time to discover all that the spectacular complex has to offer!   Within its majestic walls of granite and marble, laws have been passed, voices have been heard, and citizen’s inherent rights have been safeguarded for nearly a century.  Become a part of Capitol Hill’s colorful history by hosting your next event in one of its many beautiful venues.  

Upon making your selection of where you would like to hold your event, please download and complete the PDF Room Set-up Diagram to submit with your Rental Application. 

Photography is permitted at the Capitol by appointment only.  Requests must be submitted at least 3 days in advance, Monday through Thursday, 8:00AM - 6:00PM.  Weekend requests and inquiries will be considered and addressed the following Monday.  Please refer to the Photography Application for further information.

The Capitol


Rotunda

The Rotunda is a beautiful and spacious venue that gives class and elegance to large gatherings and celebrations. It is a room full of history and symbolism. The Capitol was dedicated and rededicated in this space and almost all of Utah’s past governors have walked its floor. Hundreds of thousands of visitors have gazed at its colorful murals and classic artwork. Every gathering under the towering dome of Utah’s restored Capitol is sure to be a memorable one.

Hall of Governors 

                                                     
Directly under the Rotunda on the first floor of the Capitol is a beautifully illustrated history of Utah’s governors. A commissioned portrait of every past governor is displayed on the walls of the Hall of Governors. Under the glow of the glass Rotunda floor, and highlighted by historic Edison light bulbs, the large, open space is a great area for a variety of gatherings.

State Capitol Grounds

The beautifully restored Capitol grounds are a wonderful place to hold an event. The immaculate Capitol grounds offer a variety or spaces from which to choose according to your event.

Multipurpose Room

The Capitol’s Multipurpose Room is conveniently located just inside the north entrance of Capitol. Just a few steps away from the magnificent outdoor plaza, it is one of the spectacular additions of the recent restoration. Spacious and filled with natural light, its proximity to the Rotunda, Legislative and Court Chambers, and the Hall of Governors makes it an ideal meeting space.

The Capitol Board Room

The Capitol Board Room is a classy venue in which large gatherings can be hosted. It is an adaptable space, with the flexibility to be transformed from an intimate meeting venue into a space fit for a large press conference. Lighted by historically accurate replicas of the original fixtures, the room is both spacious and comfortable. The room was created in an area that housed the entry to the Attorney General's office prior to restoration. The original 1912 drawings indicate a suite of offices for the Commissioner of Insurance in this space.

Conference Rooms 170 and 210 


The restored and enhanced conference rooms of the Capitol are both beautiful and practical. Clean, quiet, and set with comfortable leather chairs at beautiful wood tables, they both offer the public a comfortable and private environment for a variety of meetings and gatherings.

Plaza

For standing events only, the lovely Capitol Plaza is located on the north side of the building. The impressive granite Capitol and reflective water fountain perfectly frame this open air space, creating a comfortable and inviting ambience for your event.

House Building

Lobby

White Chapel


White Community Memorial Chapel

White Chapel The White Memorial Chapel is a reproduction of an earlier chapel that was constructed in 1883 and stood on the site for ninety years. Its stunning Gothic architecture and location across the street from the State Capitol makes it an extraordinary site for weddings and other special gatherings.

State Office Building


State Office Building Auditorium

Ideal for conferences, public forums, or banquets, the State Office Building Auditorium offers a variety of different styles to fit your needs. With wonderful acoustics, a top-of-the-line sound system, and clear visibility for all in attendance, it is sure to meet your large meeting needs.

Senate Building


State Room

The State Room is the location of the new dining services on Capitol Hill. It is located in the Senate Building (east of the plaza fountain). The spacious room offers an elegant space for large special events and conferences. The walls are lined with unique photographs of the Capitol during restoration, and the tables and chairs are sturdy and comfortable.

Photography on Capitol Hill

There will be no photography permitted on Capitol Hill weekdays during the 2012 Legislative Session, January 23rd - March 8th. For a Saturday or Sunday appointment, please refer to the photography application and contact the CPB Office to schedule.
