Yes, proposals are permitted on the Capitol Complex grounds, but the requirements depend on the scale of your event:
- Simple Proposals (No Setup): If your proposal involves just people and no setup (e.g., no decorations, signage, etc.), you are not required to schedule with the Capitol Preservation Board.
- Proposals with Setup/Decorations: If you are interested in decorating the area or having any setup (e.g., flowers, signage, props), you must schedule your proposal with the Capitol Preservation Board.
Due to the historic and cultural significance of the Capitol Complex, the Board must review all plans involving setups to ensure the safety and preservation of the historic building and its grounds. Therefore, all detailed proposal plans must be shared in advance to receive approval for property usage.
Yes, elopements are permitted on the Capitol grounds as long as they are scheduled through the Capitol Preservation Board.
Recreational drones on the Capitol Complex must follow FAA Class B airspace guidelines and Utah State Statute for safe operation. Drones must remain 100 feet from and not fly directly over the Capitol building.
