Capitol Rooms
Rotunda
The Rotunda is a beautiful and spacious venue that gives class and elegance to large gatherings and celebrations. It is a room full of history and symbolism. The Capitol dedication in 1916 and rededication in 2008 were held in this space and almost all of Utah’s past governors have walked its floor.

Hall of Governors
The first floor of the Capitol, directly under the Rotunda, features elegant portraits of Utah’s former governors. Under the glow of the glass Rotunda floor and highlighted by historic Edison light bulbs, this large open area provides a unique setting for a variety of gatherings.

Capitol Board Room
The Capitol Board Room is a venue capable of hosting both large and small gatherings. Lit by replicas of the original light fixtures, the room is both spacious and comfortable. A nearly life size portrait of the Capitol Commission, that directed the original design and construction of the Capitol, adds a historic touch to this elegant room.

*Official State of Utah Business reservations take priority in the Capitol Board Room. If the Board Room is requested for Official State of Utah Business, your reservation will be moved to another space. If another space is unavailable, your reservation will be cancelled.
Conference Rooms 105, 170, 160, and Visitor Services
These small conference rooms, ideally for 10–15 people, are conveniently located inside the Capitol. Please check each room for capacity details.

State Capitol Grounds
The beautifully restored Capitol grounds provide an elegant outdoor setting for any event. The immaculate lawns and plazas offer a variety of spaces from which to choose.
North Plaza
The North Plaza is the central point of Capitol Hill and its buildings. The plaza walkways are lined with yoshino cherry trees, carefully trimmed gardens, and sculptures of historic Utah figures. A reflecting pool in the center of the plaza creates a stunning backdrop for events and photography. An accord certificate is required for each event held on the Plaza.

East Plaza
The East Plaza is perfect for evening events. With a complete view of Salt Lake City and the surrounding mountains, this area is sure to be the perfect location for weddings, receptions, socials and more. An accord certificate is required for each event held on the Plaza.

West Plaza
The West Plaza is located near the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial and the Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos Veterans War Memorial. This area boasts views of the southwest cityscape and is perfect for weddings, receptions, socials, and more. An accord certificate is required for each event held on the Plaza.

South Steps
The grand staircase sweeps across the South entrance of the Capitol, creating a grand setting for press conferences, rallies, and choir performances.

White Chapel
Located in the southeast corner of the Capitol grounds, the White Chapel was originally built as a LDS meetinghouse in 1881. The chapel was dismantled and reconstructed on capitol grounds in 1976 and now serves as a nondenominational meetinghouse for weddings, memorials, and other special gatherings.
